Kelly actually began her ministry as a volunteer in the early 1980's when she taught her first Sunday school class. Since that time she has performed nearly every volunteer position in children's ministries. She specialized in preschool ministry as a profession for twelve years. She began her career as a teacher, and later became the Director of a small Christian preschool. Her full-time position as Minister to Children and Families began in May of 2001.

Kelly and her husband, Rick, have two children, Joshua and Sara. Rick is the Chef/Owner of a family style restaurant in Florence, Kentucky. Joshua, a college graduate, is an entertainer for a variety of venues around the United States. Sara, a college student majoring in Secondary Education, shares her brother's love for music and theatre.

The Potter family resides in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Kelly serves as the staff liaison to the Children and Family Ministry team.
