Global Missions; Ankaase, Ghana and Voronezh, Russia
Dr. Cam Gongwer serves as a medical missionary in Ankasse, a small farming village of 2500 people located near the city of Kumasi. Cam is busy helping to extend the medical ministry of the Methodist Faith Healing Hospital and Outpatient clinic. He is also working to develop a church-based community health program. His wife, Anne uses her art and education training to enhance literacy and bring beauty into the lives of the patients in the hospital. The Gongwers serve through the Mission Society for United Methodists. Immanuel is blessed with the opportunity of providing a part of the financial support for the Gongwer's ministry in West Africa.
Our church is excited about helping provide support and have fellowship with our Sister Church in Voronezh, Russia. The Pastor of St. Peter and Paul Methodist Church, Igor Volovodov visited our congregation in 2000 and 2002. Our Pastor, his family and others from Immanuel made a visit to Russia in the summer of 2000. The Methodist Church is alive and growing in Russia. We are excited about having the opportunity to help spread the Gospel message in partnership with our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Our goal is to continue to build a loving community with fellow believers in Russia.
V.I.I.M. (Volunteers in International Missions)
Our church sent a Volunteer-in-Mission team to Ghana, West Africa in September, 2003.
Some of the members of the team planned and presented a Vacation Bible School type program for the children in the area around Ankasse.
Other members in the team helped construct an addition to the Methodist Faith Healing Hospital and Outpatient clinic.
Our church sent a Volunteer-in-Mission team to Voronezh, Russia, to assist our sister church, the St. Peter and Paul Methodist Church, in the summer of 2005
