Jim Fant
Jim Fant, New Hope Congregation Minister
One of my favorite Gospel songs says, " To God be the Glory, Great things He has Done!" Truly, this is my testimony. God is so good, generous, kind, long-suffering and forgiving. For 25 years, I was a real life Prodigal Son. With all the training, upbringing, and spiritual nurturing, I listened to a lie and believed that I was missing something by following God's Will. Two years ago during a Sunday morning worship service at Immanuel, the Holy Spirit broke through into my heart, showed me my condition, broke my rebellious will and helped me come back home! With repentance, restitution and restoration He returned the joy andthe relationship which was missing all those years. I promised, "Whatever it takes to draw closer to you Lord, that's what I'll be willing to do!"
That prayer of commitment led me to sell a business, quit my job and move to Kentucky to join my wife and the Immanuel family. Several weeks ago, it led me to accept the appointment as Pastor of the New Hope congregation. What an amazing turn of events and an incredible display of God's grace!
To my delight, twenty people from the Lakeside campus have committed to go with my loving wife, Janet, and me to bring "New Hope" to New Hope. We have committed to work together, pray for one another and expect a miracle in our lives and the life of the New Hope congregation.
And do you know something? I am not special! God loves you as infinitely as He does me and wants the very best for your life. You see, the lie that I listened to was that God doesn't really love me enough to make me happy, joyful or ecstatic; His will is sour, dreary and monotonous. Friends, don't believe that devilish lie. Come home! Find your Heavenly Father running to meet you with open arms ready to pour out on you forgiveness, compassion and extraordinary Grace! I know from experience that He will and you know what else? I will be there to greet you as well, along with hundreds of other loving people from our Immanuel family who have experienced the same Home Coming.
