Dr. Wesley and Maureen Alexander to Speak at Immanuel Wednesday, Feb. 10
7:00 PM, Wesley Hall
Come and hear firsthand experiences of the devastation in Haiti from the Alexanders, who were in Port Au Prince when the earthquake struck.
Haiti Relief Effort Continues
On January 12, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, devastating the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Millions were affected, and the death toll is expected to be in the
thousands. Untold numbers of people were trapped as many buildings collapsed throughout the city. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is responding to this disaster.
How can I help?
-Pray for everyone impacted by the earthquake and
for those involved in disaster response.
-Collect items for Health Kits and send them to Sager
Brown. You can find a list of specific items to include
in a Health Kit at http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/getconnected/supplies/health-kit/
-Make a monetary donation. 100% of money given to the Advance goes directly to the designated ministry.
You may make your donation to the Haiti earthquake response in three ways.
1. Make check payable to your local church, and write “Haiti Emergency” and “Advance #418325” on the check. Put your check in the offering plate or give it to
your church treasurer.
2. Donate online at www.umcor.org.
3. Donate by phone using a credit card. The number is (888) 252-6174.
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western
hemisphere. Its people are in great need of our help now.
Through UMCOR, we can “Be there. Be hope” for our
brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Natural Church Development (NCD)

CHURCH-WIDE LISTENING SESSION

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR:

Monday March 1, 2010 - 6:30 p.m.
in Wesley Hall

All members of our church family are invited to a special listening session on Monday March 1 at 6:30 in Wesley Hall.   Those who attend will also be invited to a follow up session on Monday March 22nd.   The Kentucky United Methodist Conference mandates that all congregations be involved in a specified ministry assessment process each year.  Our church has chosen to use the Natural Church Development model for the past several years.  As part of that process we periodically take a survey, using a sampling model determined by NCD.   The survey assesses church health according to a set of eight characteristics.  The process calls for planning ministry goals to address the “minimum factor” identified in that survey.  We retook the survey this past fall and identified our minimum factor as “passionate spirituality.”  We are now ready for the next step in that process - which is to prayerfully assess the reasons for that outcome and then to prayerfully plan ways to increase our health in that area.

We have been assigned a trained NCD “Coach” (Pastor Dave Shockey, Hebron Lutheran) who will guide our discussions.  There will be two meetings - one for “diagnosis” (why do you think this is our minimum factor?) , and the second for “prescription” (how will this be improved?).  All members may attend the first meeting on March 1; however the second meeting, on March 22, should only be attended by those who were at the first meeting.

Greater Participation Promises To Yield Greater Results -
So Please Plan To Attend.

For more information about the meetings contact senior Pastor Kelly McClendon, or associate Pastor Ken Easley.  For more information about Natural Church Development (NCD) please see: http://www.ncd-international.org/public/essence.html
